American Idol Predictions

What are your predictions for Hollywood Week:

Prediction for front runners Hollywood Week?
Keeping in mind that I wasn't at auditions and can only base predictions on what was shown on TV, my week one predictions for who will be the front runners during Hollywood week are:
1.  Jordon Dorsey--music teacher, young, great range, likable, relevant
2.  Brett--really odd, but amazing voice.  Top notch Queen performer.
3.  J.C.--and only 15 years old
4.  Robbie Poven
5.  Ashley--a "Broadway" type girl who wants Liza and pop to meet.  Cried her way to a golden ticket, but I was happy to see her gain one (luckily this was when Jennifer couldn't say no).
6.  Victoria Higgins
7.  Devon Rush
8.  Brielle VonHugel & Travis Orlando are my honorable mentions

*** after seeing 3&4 week two airing
9.  Emma- the girl who sang a Cindy Lauper song.  She did not receive three yeses, but their is something special about her.
10.  Naima--okay performance, great look.
11.  Molly DeWolf Swenson--Miss Harvard, Miss White House, and Miss American Idol.  It almost appeared as if Jennifer didn't want to like her because there is nothing that we can empathize with regarding Molly.  She seems like she has it all going on.  Regardless, I like her, I like her smile, I love her voice.  I'm rooting for you!
12.  Steve Bagoon (ya big goon, save the jokes for the other Steven).  His voice surprised me as he transformed from boring accountant to amazing crooner.
13.  Scott Dangerfield--the year of the unassuming
14.Ally
15.  Chris Medina
16.  That broken-up couple, what's their name??
17. Sefano from San Francisco
18. June Bug, also from San Francisco
19. girl from Columbia
20. James, the new dad who suffers from Tourette's

Who do you think the front runners will be?

Favorite American Idol Season Ten Top Heart Tugging Stories:
1.  Travis Orlando--Likeable guy with a star-quality face.  Lived in a shelter in the Bronx.  His family is likable too which translate: those at home will enjoy watching his family in the audience.  Travis has a twin brother and mom is one of those moms who is more interested in watching her son's hug than she is about greeting the celebrity judges.
2.  Kosovo refugee and cute girl.
3.  The broken up couple...will they get back together?  Wasn't it heart breaking that the girl had a huge support team and the guy had nobody.
4.  Chris Medina.  Oh my, his story breaks my heart.  Engaged to a beautiful girl.  Car accident leaves her with severe brain damage and yet he is still by her side.
5. Girl whose family moved from Columbia
6. James, new dad (who lost his dad to a drug overdose) suffers from Tourette's Syndrom
7. Stefano who survived a near fatal accident

Season 10 Running List of my favorite Steven Tyler One-Liners.  Please feel free to add to the list!

I love Steve Tyler!

American Idol Auditions TV Week two; Episodes 3 and 4

This week confirms it; I love Steven Tyler!  What a powerhouse of fun.
Reasons to love him:
1.  the joy he brings to the judging room;
2.  his savory and deep appreciation for talent which elevates the viewing experience;
3.  his hilarious one liners.

Hell fire, save matches, &&@k a duck and see what hatches!

But I also love Steve Tyler for the level of respect and dignity he brings to the show (funny to say after that one liner  :-)...definitely not what I expected.

I used to watch America Idol audition week feeling sadly uncomfortable for the contestants who lay out their heart only to be humiliated by the judges.  Yep, there are a lot a bad singers (including me!), but some believe their good.  Yes, the judges need to be honest, but scathing honesty spiraled out of control as a form of entertainment.

Randy is still in throw-back mode asking, "are you serious, man?" and laughing out loud in the middle of the wannabe's performance. But Steve Tyler gives the contestant respect and if it's a no, he simply says American Idol is not right for you.  He doesn't acknowledge Randy when Randy tries to pull him into mudslinging, but instead handles himself with great character.  I'm not hating on Simon, who gained some tact over the years (i.e. once he got called out on the hurt he caused by calling people fat, he chilled on that issue).  Steve brings a new level of entertainment by being hilarious in his own way, and he never resorts to shaming someone.

What do you think...please comment on:
1.  Did you like old auditions better where the comedy came from the judges cackling during the audition?
2.  Do you prefer the new audition style where Steve Tyler is kind to the contestants?  (Did you notice on audition day four when he whispered to Randy to be nice).

As for me, the show offers plenty of laughing and entertainment without doing it to the point I feel embarrassed and the poor soul is humiliated.

I do think there was a miss on the editing floor since we don't see many "No's".  When we heard the "no" verdicts in the past, it added tension to the show.  It made you feel anxiety when you liked an audition but wondered if they were going to get in.  Because I only see what's on TV, it seemed like everyone I wondered about was a yes, which left no tension whatsoever.

American Idol Season Ten a Winning Formula

WEEK ONE RealiTea REPORT:

American Idol, back at last!  Some say it never went away, but they would be morons.  The past two seasons equated to unwatched episodes on my Tivo.  High ratings, sure, but it seemed the show was floundering.

It's fresh, it's fun, it's a new era for A.I.

Here is the formula that's moving the show back to interesting entertainment:

1.  Three judges
Whomever thought four was a good number right probably lost their job.  Four judges...really? The quantity of opinions offered a lot of "so what" moments.

3.  Personalities
Randy.--I name the dawg first to give him props as the last remaining original.  He brings a unique additive to the judging mixture and I'm glad he's still around.

Jennifer Lopez--she's completely lovable.  Yes, she practically screams "I'm Paula's replacement."  She's Lantina, she's super likable, she feels bad to say no, and she's eye candy.  I don't care that it took her until the end of the second show to spit out the word "no"; she was fun to watch.

Steven Tyler--is he awesome, or what?! He is not the Simon of the group, but completely himself. He loves music and brings a *pow* energy to the table.

I have a feeling Steve Tyler will have a lot of interesting sound bites, so for week one, here is my favorite Steve quote [to a guy with a fishing hat, boy scout hair cut, plaid shirt, and cargo shorts]
Steve: "you came in with those bangs."
